Cloud gaming, device by device
Each device has its own quirks. Pick yours below for setup advice and the service we'd actually use on it.
- macOS (MacBook & iMac)
Macs are excellent cloud gaming machines — they have great displays, fast Wi-Fi 6E radios, and the codec problem is solved on Apple Silicon. Native clients exist for most major services.
- Steam Deck
The Steam Deck is a surprisingly capable cloud gaming device. The screen and built-in controls are great, and you can stream titles too heavy for native Deck performance — like Cyberpunk's path-tracing mode.
- Xbox Series X
Cloud gaming on an Xbox console sounds redundant but it has real use cases — instant-play of new games before download finishes, save-syncing across rooms, and trying Game Pass titles without committing storage.
